Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Solo Moderation

SpeciesQuest has no moderation team. Enforcement is handled solely by the Creator on a best-effort basis. There is no guarantee of timely action on reports. The Creator reserves full discretion in all enforcement decisions and is not obligated to explain or justify any action taken.

Prohibited Conduct

Cheating & Exploitation — Using scripts, bots, modified clients, automated tools, or exploiting unintended game mechanics to gain an advantage. The Creator makes no guarantee that any specific behaviour constitutes cheating and reserves sole discretion to make that determination.
Harassment & Abuse — Targeting, threatening, or abusing other players through any channel associated with SpeciesQuest, including but not limited to in-game features, linked communities, or external platforms using SpeciesQuest identity.
Impersonation — Pretending to be another player, the Creator, a moderator, or any staff member. There are no staff members — anyone claiming to represent SpeciesQuest officially should be treated with suspicion.
Unauthorised Access — Attempting to access accounts, databases, servers, or data that you are not authorised to access. This includes but is not limited to brute-force attacks, SQL injection, credential stuffing, session token theft, and API abuse.
Malicious Content — Uploading, transmitting, or attempting to execute viruses, malware, ransomware, or any other harmful code through or against the Service or its users.
Illegal Activity — Using the Service to facilitate any activity that violates applicable local, national, or international law. The Creator accepts no liability for illegal actions taken by users on the platform.
Spam — Sending unsolicited communications, flooding any system or channel associated with the Service, or using automation to generate excessive load on the infrastructure.
Data Extraction — Systematically scraping, extracting, harvesting, or exfiltrating data from the Service without explicit written permission from the Creator. This includes simulation output, player data, and world state data.
Account Trafficking — Buying, selling, trading, or transferring accounts. Each account is personal and non-transferable.

Enforcement

LEVEL 1Warning

Issued for first-time or minor violations. No account action taken. Repeated minor violations escalate.

LEVEL 2Temporary Suspension

Account access suspended for a defined period for moderate or repeated violations. Duration is at the Creator's sole discretion.

LEVEL 3Permanent Ban

Account permanently terminated for severe, repeated, or egregious violations. No appeal process is guaranteed.

LEVEL 4Legal Referral

Criminal activity, serious security breaches, or targeted attacks against the Service or its users may be referred to law enforcement.

No Guaranteed Response

This is a solo project. Reports may go unanswered for extended periods or indefinitely. The Creator is under no obligation to investigate, respond to, or act on any report. If you witness conduct that violates this policy, you may report it at contact@speciesquest.io, but no response is guaranteed.

No Formal Appeals Process

If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may contact contact@speciesquest.io. The Creator will review appeals at their sole discretion. There is no formal appeals body, no independent review, and no binding outcome. The Creator's decision is final.

Relationship to Terms of Service

This Acceptable Use Policy supplements and forms part of the Terms of Service. Violations of this policy are violations of the Terms of Service and may result in account termination per those terms.
